Eureka MT Quilt Show – 2017

carol-hansonCarol Hanson – Featured Quilter

I am honored to be chosen as Featured Quilter for the 2017 show.   I will enjoy representing all the reasons we had for starting this show and hope to meet many others that love quilting like I do!

Quilting has always fascinated me and I am primarily self-taught.  When I retired from teaching school, I met Jackie Robinson who was looking for help to start the Eureka Quilt Show.  I was on the Steering Committee of the show for the first 10 years and it was an exciting time to get something great going in our small town.

I have dabbled a bit in design and have had several designs published in nationally known magazines but my greatest enjoyment comes from just looking at my stash and deciding what I want to make next.  My style is very scrappy and I enjoy using up even the smallest scraps.  I also like selling my creations because that is proof to me that someone likes it as much as I do!

A native of Eureka, I have spent most of my childhood and adult years here.  I taught school, mainly at the primary level in the Eureka School System for 26 years and retired to spend more time quilting!  Husband Ron and I raised 2 children here (Amy and Andy) and they have blessed us with 6 grandchildren.  Andy and his family are living in Eureka now and the legacy in the Eureka Schools continues as he and his wife are both teachers and his 3 daughters attend school here.  Amy is a teacher in Columbia Falls and is raising her 3 children there.
